Mark’s Summary: I loved the look of the Motion Suitcases from Wenger. While this is a Swiss brand, I’ll avoid any cliched comments about army knives or watches. This is quality luggage aimed at frequent travellers. The build is excellent, and details stack up well. For me the sweet spot here is the price point is not crazy for the quality and brand. Sure, there are cheaper carry-on cases – but you don’t get 130+ years of trust from those brands.
This review focuses on the carry-on version of Wenger Motion cases. Just a quick note: There are check-in sizes too, and they look great!

Detailed Review of the Wenger Motion Carry-On Luggage
Let’s get started with the size and design. After that are more details on the outside features, that all important inside and a collection of thoughts from long-term users.
This is a standard size for carry-on luggage – 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. It does expand which adds an extra 5cm and ups the size from 36 litres to 43 litres. This is great for those trips which don’t quite justify check-in luggage, though hand-luggage only would be a bit on the cramped side. Motion carry-ons weigh in at a reasonable 3.2kg.
I’m a fan of the black version. It does come in multiple (mostly more reserved) colours. There is green / grey, blue, red, and a bold yellow too.
The design is serious, smart and unique. A moulded front panel evokes wings, or maybe the stripes on a senior soldiers coat shoulders. The cross logo sits in between these. It catches the eye on the lighter coloured models.
Wenger Motion Suitcase: Outside Features
There are the usual spinner wheels, which are plenty tough enough for frequent travel. The handle telescopes. It’s thin. While it is plenty tough enough, I’d think twice before carrying this case by the handle alone when full (you do that too huh?!). You get handles on the top and side.
I already noted the expanding capabilities. This is a wide strip on the zip lining. To make it work, you’ll need to pack enough into the case to prop it into the expanded position.
Security Certified:
The Motion cases are certified by Travel Sentry as having top-level anti-theft capabilities. This is a tough double zip, the heads are gripped by the locking mechanism. Naturally, no luggage security will deter a determined thief. What you get from Wenger is the best-in-class deterrent against casual / opportunistic thieves.
These cases are built with easy-to-clean polycarbonate / ABS. They should withstand some rough handling / multiple trips.
Inside Features of the Motion Carry-On by Wenger
The contrasting red stripes on the elasticated straps hit you as soon as you open the Motion cases. This touch is replicated on the closed side, at the edges. Material is tough enough to last many years, and goes with the overall ‘frequent traveller’ vibe of these carry-ons.
There is an addition that you wont get with other cases – a shoe bag. You’ll see this tucked inside the mesh pocket on the lid of the closed side on the picture on this page. That mesh pocket is super-handy, if your current carry-on luggage does not have this, you are in for an upgrade.
Feedback: What Current Users of these Suitcases Said?
There is limited feedback at the time of writing. That said, what comments I did find matched the overall super-positive results that Wenger Luggage gets for all of their ranges.
The key reoccurring word is ‘quality’, as in ‘great quality’. If you compare this case to a no-brand / rip-off type one, you’ll immediately see the difference. It is literally the difference between a case that looks terrible after three trips, and one that will last a long time.
Strong wheels and an overall solid build also came in for individual praise.
I always recommend you check the latest feedback – and this applies even for a 130+ year old brand. You just never know when things change these days.
Wrapping Up: Is the Wenger Motion Suitcase Right for You?
You could easily pay 2x or even 3x the price of the Wenger Motion cases for something of comparable quality. Swiss precision jokes aside, this really is a quality carry-on for a price point not far above the generic brands.
The smart design evokes aviation, and is smart enough to stand out without being garish or overstated. For those that like the bolder options, there is a bright yellow one to go with the safer hues.
This case would work for business, and also for anyone looking to travel in style.
Best of all, it will be with you for years.
