Spontaneous Suitcases from IT Luggage

IT Luggage are famous for their super-light soft-shell cases – this review of the ‘Spontaneous’ range of hard-shell suitcases will find out whether this popular brand can cover all the bases.

The design is an instant plus point. Spontaneous hard-shell cases have a smart grill look on the front, along with the familiar IT logo. Colour options are varied, though none are brash or bold. My pick is the feather grey. This is distinctive, yet understated in a way that works perfectly for a case.

Spontaneous cases are spinners, with eight wheels and a telescoping handle. The handle is narrower than on many IT luggage cases. There are four sizes to choose from, or you can opt for a set.

Check out those colour options and the impressive close-ups for yourself now – on this page at the official IT Luggage UK Store.

Detailed Review of the Spontaneous Suitcase Range from IT Luggage

Let’s start with the sizes and colour options before the specifics of the shell and inside components.

There are four sizes, two of them are cabin, plus a medium+ and large:

  • Cabin: 55.5 cm x 38cm x 25cm (expands an extra 6.4cm), 57 Litres, 3.44kg.
  • Cabin with Pocket: 55.5cm x 38cm x 23cm, 42 Litres, 3.2kg.
  • Medium Plus: 67.5cm x 46.5cm x 32cm (expands an extra 7.6cm), 112 Litres, 4.34kg.
  • Large: 78cm x 53cm x 35cm (expands an extra 7.6cm), 161 Litres, 5.04kg.

Note that the large is huge, especially when you expand it. For most people, the Medium Plus Spontaneous case hits the sweet spot.

You can get a set of three, or a set of four (adding the cabin with pocket).

Colour Options for IT Spontaneous Suitcases

Black is always the most popular option.

For the Spontaneous range, I like three of the seven colour options. You will see each case in each size at on this page at IT luggage for comparison.

Here are your options:

  • Black
  • Blueberry
  • Olive Night
  • Feather Grey
  • Azalea Pink
  • Blue Glow
  • Soft Pink

You’ll need to be confident to roll up to check-in with the Azalea Pink case!

Spontaneous Cases IT Luggage

Review of the Spontaneous Hard-Shell Cases from IT Luggage: Outside Components

Spinner cases swivel 360 degrees and stand up on their own. IT has this setup nailed, with double wheels on each corner. They are tough enough to withstand frequent travel, and are colour coordinated with the main shell of the case.

You get a telescoping handle, with the top part also colour matched – a small but important detail that man brands overlook. You get handles on the top and side.

The zip goes right down the middle. This means the case opens into equal halves, rather than one deeper compartment and one thinner one. You get a combination lock which holds the heads of the zips – this has a TSA key override.

Inside of the Spontaneous Cases from IT

All the cases are lined with a grey polyester. You get the standard single open compartment and, with a closed compartment on the other side.

On the open side you get an elasticated strap to keep everything in place. I’m a fan of packing cubes – which work perfectly in this setup.

The closed compartment has a zip going around three sides. There are two separate pockets on top. One is meshed (you can see what is inside), the other covered.

I rate this as a decent inside setup, without being anything special or unique.

Feedback: What Buyers Say About IT Luggage Suitcases?

Spontaneous cases are new, and yet to get significant feedback from buyers (let alone for longer term use).

IT Luggage gets excellent feedback on multiple platforms. This is especially noteworthy when you compare the prices of their suitcases to the likes of Samsonite, Tumi and EastPak. With a mid-budget price and solid feedback, this range looks like a safe bet for anyone seeking to refresh their hard-shell luggage.

I’ll naturally return here to update you once feedback specific to the Spontaneous cases comes in.

Wrapping Up: Spontaneous Suitcases from IT Luggage – Are they Worth the Money?

I’m a big fan already (though have yet to fly with one).

The design, IT Luggage build, and range of colour options are excellent. At the price, it is hard to get a branded case – let alone one from a brand with a reputation for versatile, quality suitcases.

IT Luggage is associated with super-light soft-shell cases.

For me, the Spontaneous range shows that their hard-shell cases are more than worth a look.
