Summary: The 5 Cities Rolling Laptop Bag solves two problems for business travellers. The first is that many travel laptop bags are huge – too big to feel comfortable with in the office. Secondly, laptop bags can get heavy. Most smaller ones don’t have wheels and a telescopic handle. You might know 5 Cities from their range of hand luggage and suitcases. They provide smart, robust luggage at the value end of the spectrum.
Feedback for these cases has been fair – and for the price I’d say it was excellent.

Detailed Review of the 5 Cities Rolling Laptop Bag / Briefcase
Like many 5 Cities cases, this model is made with 600D polyester. That is durable and waterproof and maintains its smart looks (without ever giving that truly luxury feel).
These are closer to the size of laptop bag you’d usually have a shoulder strap for or carry with the handles. It measures 43.5cm x 29x 17 (body only, a little bigger with the accessories). The capacity is 22 litres, which should be plenty enough for your laptop(s), documents and accessories. The weight is 2.37kg. This is a little heavier than most laptop bags, though most don’t have the wheels and telescopic handle that this 5 Cities model does.
The dimensions are compatible with even the strictest airlines for carry-on luggage.
If you had any doubts about the quality of these bags, the 2-year guarantee against manufacturing defects should set your mind at rest.
Features of These Rolling Laptop Bags
Let’s start with the wheels. There are two fixed wheels at the back – making this a pull along bag rather than a spinner. These are solid looking doubled wheels for stability. There are two plastic feet at the front, allowing this laptop bag to stand upright on its own.
The handle telescopes. It sits flush with the bag when down. When fully extended, this is almost 3x the height – plenty enough to comfortably pull along. There is a regular carrying handle on the top.
Laptops up to 17 inches fit into the padded main compartment. You can fasten this with a Velcro strap, and lock it safely with a small padlock. That padlock is provided, though it is not the toughest lock I have ever reviewed. You can always replace this with a more robust one if that is a concern.
Finally, there is a front pocket. This is divided into compartments to make sure you can store things like chargers and cables easily.
Feedback: What Previous Buyers Said About the 5 Cities Rolling Laptop Bags
With lower priced bags and cases, feedback is always mixed. This rolling briefcase is clearly on the positive side with the reviews. At the time of writing there are more than 400 reviews, with the overall score at 4.1 / 5 (this does change, so make sure you check out those reviews for yourself).
Two things stood out. First, the use of the word ‘practical’ and ‘good value’ came across in multiple different reviews. Second, a lot of people described how they used this case. There was quite a range of different people / situations – all happy with their buy.
Most of the very-negative feedback came from a small number of users that received broken cases. This is never good, though keep in mind that 5 Cities have a 2-year warranty – a new model will be on the way very soon. Still, I’m sure the ‘furious’ rants about how dodgy Velcro ruined their entire lives made some people feel better!
