Mark’s Summary: The new Attrix luggage range is the first time I’ve been tempted to give up my Samsonite Lite-Shock. It’s also the first time Samsonite have taken a major styling step (both the shape / profile and in those all-important details). Attrix cases come in the standard mix of carry-on, medium. large and XL cases and have metallic covers that will turn heads. I have yet to travel with one – and metallic finishes can pick up scratches. That in mind, these cases are certainly built with the Samsonite quality you’d expect.
For the price, the Attrix range will be an investment that lasts you for years.

Detailed Review of the Samsonite Attrix Suitcases Range
Let’s start with the sizes, colours, and style – then get into the specs and features below.
There are five sizes for this range, two are hand-luggage and two for checking in.
-
- Carry-On Regular 55cm / 44L (when expanded, otherwise 38L)
- Carry-On Slim 55cm / 38L to 44L
- Medium Spinner 69cm / 73L (I love this size)
- Large Spinner 75cm / 93L
- XL Spinner 81cm / 120L (American Sized!)
You then choose from five stylish finishes.
- Black: This is the classic finish that looks fabulous on every Samsonite case. It’s a go-to for most of us, though with the Attrix range there are other tempting options.
- Steel Blue: While steel might make you think Industrial, this finish is elegant. Light enough to stand out from the black cases, yet in no way brash or bright.
- Dune Brown: A hybrid of brown and grey, this works well and is unique enough to stand out on the luggage carousel.
- Basil Green: I’d like this one to be a shade or two darker, though can see the appeal. The colour goes with the eco-credentials of Samsonite, including their PET recycled materials.
- Red: Bright, bold, and brash. The red design of the Attrix spinner looks stunning. This one is sure to turn heads, so make sure you are the type of traveller that enjoys attention before you get one.

Beyond Just Style: Technical Spec and Features Guide for Attrix Cases
Samsonite used a new material for this range. It’s called Roxkin and builds on their experience with combining tough and light composites that started with Cosmo-Lite. These cases certainly feel sturdy and are claimed to be their strongest and most impact resistant yet. Short of dropping one from my attic room window, I could not verify this. That said, the reviews corroborate the brands claim.
Like all Samsonite suitcases these days, spinner wheels come as standard. These allow for easy 360-degree movement. The style works beautifully, and just like the Neopluse or Lite-Shock ranges, the wheels are tough enough to withstand being checked in repeatedly. These wheels come with new shock absorbing technology. A quick tip for anyone that has not used Spinner cases before is to pull them along over carpets and rough surfaces. Just because you can push them along does not always mean this is the best solution.
Other Features:
- Dual Pole Expanding Handle: This fits snugly into place when down. The carry-on versions have long enough handles for taller people to comfortably use them.
- TSA Lock: The combination lock grabs the zip handles, which is great for day-to-day security. TTSA override lock makes US travel stress-free.
- Expanding Carry-Ons: Add up to 6 litres extra with the tough fabric expanding option. This only applies to the hand-luggage sizes.
- Id Tag: This sits just below the base of the expending pole handle. No need for a separate Id Tag with this range.
Inside Features of the Samsonite Attrix Spinner Suitcases
Not only are the inside linings for these suitcases make with 90% recycled materials, but they are also practical.
The base setup is the one open / one closed.
The closed side opens 270-degrees with a zip. While the open side has elasticated straps to hold everything in place when you open the cases. These are adjustable. In addition, you get a small pocket which sits on the opening hinge. This is perfect for small things like cables and other bits you don’t want to disappear.
Overall, I’d rate this as standard for Samsonite interiors – and great quality.
Reviews: What Owners of These Suitcases Said?
Reviews are important for suitcases, as the insights from people that have taken them on multiple trips are key to choosing the right luggage.
Overall, Attrix cases have positive reviews. When you compare this feedback to cheaper ‘no bran’’ suitcases, the contrast is stark.
Quality is the main thing mentioned by positive reviewers both in the UK and Europe. The tough build compared to the weight and great (stylish) looks also got plenty of mentions.
On the negative side, a couple of people had damaged cases during flights. I should note that Samsonite do give you a 10-year guarantee for all their suitcases. Scratches also provoked some grumbles. While this is hard to avoid with metallic finish cases, it is obviously disappointing.
With a huge positive slant in the reviews, there is nothing that would cause me to change my mind on the Attrix range. Make sure you check out the latest reviews before you commit.
Mark’s Summary: A Great Value Option that Will Last for Years
I’m already a Samsonite fan and have multiple cases of theirs from different eras.
For me, the Attrix takes a new direction with design. One which works beautifully. If you love the shape and spec, then the final question is one of value. With a lower price point (especially when there is a deal), and quality build, there is no reason this range won’t look amazing for 7 or more years. When you think about how often you’d need to replace no-brand luggage during this time, Attrix is super-good value.
